The Cornerstone Biblical Commentary series (18 volumes) is the product of nearly 40 scholars, many of whom participated in the creation of the NLT. This will be one of the premier resources for those seeking an accessible but fairly high-level discussion of scriptural interpretation. Each commentary in this projected 18 volume series, is prefaced by a substantial book introduction that gives general historical background. The reader is then taken through the Bible text, passage by passage, starting with the NLT (New Living Translation) text printed in full. This is followed by the 'Notes' section which helps the reader understand the Hebrew or Greek behind the NLT translation, interacts with other scholars on important interpretive issues and points to significant textual and contextual matters. The 'Notes' are followed by the 'Commentary' which presenta a lucid interpretation of the passage, giving special attention to context and major theological themes.
